The bike was a total of 27 hilly miles. We biked 10 miles over to Colchester so we could stop at the bike shop and pick up some supplies. Sam needed a new tube and CO2 cartridges (he got his first flat a few weeks ago - I'm still waiting for mine). While we were there Sam bought me some new bar tape because mine was coming unraveled and the bike guys put it on for me. My bike looks awesome with the red tape (and it will be easier to spot in transition).

After the stop at the bike shop we biked another hilly 17 miles. My total bike time was 1:49:07 and the average speed was 14.8mph.
After we got home we jumped off the bikes to do a run. I ran about 3 miles - a down a back stretch of road with a HUGE hill. Sam ran a loop of 5.5 miles. About a mile into my run I was feeling pretty good and considered doing the full loop, but I realized it was hot, I hadn't had much water, and I really didn't want to push it to far (remember my nagging fear of injury). When I got to the turn around point I really thought about going the whole way, especially considering the HUGE hill I was going to have to run up, but in the end I stuck with the plan of 3 miles. The run took me 35 minutes which isn't so bad considering the hill which is so steep that I had to walk up part of it!
After the workout I drank a ton of water and Wheat Thins and Goldfish crackers. Yum. We don't keep snacks like this at our house so I can't help but indulge when I'm staying with my mother-in-law. Then I went outside and laid on the grass to nap and read my book. I was hoping to even out my tan lines a little (they are CRAZY right now and I'm in a wedding in a month that will really show them off). I wasn't too successful though since it was late afternoon and I had sunscreen on (I won't go outside without it anymore - I've talk to too many young women with stage IV melanoma).
All in all it was a great day and it looks like today will be too. I'm going to head out for a run and then we're driving up to MA for the big party!
