After much research and discussion we decided our last triathlon of the season will be the Lake George Triathlon on Saturday, September 19th. Yesterday's post on choosing the right triathlon originated from trying to decided between the Mighty Hamptons and Lake George.
Both races are really great choices but we choose Lake George for several reasons. First, it is the smaller of the two races (last year was 375 vs. 800 participants). The registration fee was less ($100 vs $165), hotels in Lake George are less expensive and the race start is later (8:30am vs 6:40am). An extra bonus from my perspective is the race will be in fresh water instead of the ocean!
In addition to all this, the Lake George race is on Saturday so we will be heading up on Friday night, racing Saturday morning and then we will spend the rest of the weekend having a mini-vacation in Lake George. It will be just a few weeks before our 1st wedding anniversary and since we will be traveling for two other weddings on our actual anniversary this will be a good chance to enjoy a little getaway.

Sounds wonderful! Just remember...normal people (not us) don't include a race on their romantic weekend getaway. ;)
