I stopped by the bike shop last night and asked my favorite bike guy to adjust the settings on my cycle shoes in hopes that this would reduce my knee pain. He made the adjustments but also recommended that I focus on my form and if my knee starts to hurt to consciously feel my position and make sure my knees are not out of alignment. He reminded me that clipless pedals can help your form a lot but they can't do everything.
We went for a 18 mile ride in Central Park this morning and I had hardly any knee pain! At a couple points my left knee was hurting a bit but I remembered what CJ said and focused on keeping everything in alignment and just like that the pain disappeared! I'm so relieved that it was an easy fix.
Overall I think I had a really great training week. Everything went just as I planned and I got in all the workouts that I wanted. It looked like this:
Saturday: My first double digit run (10 miles)
Sunday: Long, hilly bike ride at Harriman State Park (28 miles)
Monday: Running speed work in the a.m (6 x 400's) and swim in the p.m. (2000 meters)
Tuesday: Strength training and bike machine at the gym
Wednesday: Strength training and 'Tempo' Run in the a.m. (6 miles) and swim in the p.m. (1600 meters)
Thursday: Bike in Central Park (18 miles)
We are hoping to head up to Lake George this weekend so we can do some training and bike the course for our next triathlon but the weather forecast says rain so we are going to have to play it by ear. I don't mind running in the rain so much but biking in the rain can be both annoying and dangerous.

Wow, I wish I had time to do all that! It seems to be raining a lot up your way lately, or is that just normal?
