Pain in the Knee

After my successful long run on Saturday I was excited for a nice long bike ride on Sunday. We headed up to Harriman State Park again and crossed our fingers that the third time would be the charm. Luckily I didn't get lost and there were no flat tires! Success!

The weather forecast predicted scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon so we got up early and planned to be at the park by 9am. And guess what the weather looked like on the way up? Rain. Of course. But, by the time we go there most of the rain had stopped and it looked like we would be in the clear.

I completed two full and hilly loops for a total of 28 miles in just a bit over 2 hours. It was a really great workout! After the first loop the right side of my body was aching. My shoulder, my hip and especially my knee. I know that I tend to scrunch up my right shoulder when I ride (I'm not sure why) but my knee was what was really bothering me. Occasionally me knee aches after my 18 mile rides in Central Park, but this was a bit worse. I wasn't sure what was causing it but I think (hope) that I found the solution:

The shoes are opposite (right on the left, left on the right). Can you see the difference? I think that overtime my clips have gotten a bit misaligned! The right shoe clip has moved closer to the toe. I really hope this is the culprit because it is a very easy fix! I'm going to bring them in to the bike shop tomorrow and hopefully they can adjust the right to match the left. In the mean time I will continue my daily dose of Alleve and ice (it cures everything).
