Minnesota: Home Sweet Home

On Monday night I returned from an amazing, whirlwind trip to Minnesota. I flew into Minneapolis on Friday night and stayed with my best friend.

Then on Saturday morning I drove North for three and a half hours and ended at one of my favorite places on Earth - home.

I was home for less than 48 hours but it was still wonderful to be there. On Sunday afternoon we headed up to a local lake and to do some open water swimming. My dad and I swam while my mom hung out in the kayak. My mom wore my GPS watch and we figured we swam about a mile.

The weather was a bit dodgy but the rain held off until we were packing up the car. The water was cold but not unbearable. We were the only people at the lake except for this group that showed up for a bit...

On Monday morning I went for a run while my mom walked. I ran three miles and then turned around and headed towards home. I met back up with my mom with about a mile to go and walked the last mile with her. We were out for more than an hour and in this entire time not a single car went by. It was blissful.

After a peaceful and refreshing weekend in Minnesota I returned to NYC. Welcome home...

I just came across your awesome blog! Great work on your open water swim - sadly it is too cold here at the moment to be doing any open water swimming :(

I see places like this and I wonder why I stay in the city....I think 21 years is long enough.

that lake looks divine!

It sounds like you had a great trip! That must have been so fun to swim with your dad and run/walk with your mom! And, it looks so peaceful!
