Catching Up

It's been awhile since I've posted but a lot has been going on. First, I'm running again! After switching gears with how to treat my foot pain I'm happy to report that I'm feeling better and running again. Anybody familiar with TMS and the mind-body connection would not be surprised to learn that the day of my first run in 3 months, which was mostly pain free, I promptly broke out in hives. This is not surprising since hives are just another symptom of TMS. I'm still working on this - mentally and physically - but I'm so happy to be running again (and mostly hive free). This morning I ran 3 miles, my longest run yet! It was 6am - dark, cold and windy - and I loved every minute of it.

In other very important news, I bit the bullet and put down a deposit on a new bike! AHH! Last time I mentioned it I was eyeing the Felt B16. Well, I had a change of heart. I liked the Felt because it was an affordable tri bike and I was ready to settle with that. I'm not too picky. But then, THEN, I went to another bike shop and the bike guy showed me this:

2011 Cannondale Slice 5 Women’s 105

The Cannondale Slice 5 Women’s 105. I was in love. My eyes were twinkling, my cheeks were flushed, my heart was racing - I may have even been drooling a little. We left the shop, Cannondale catalogue in hand, and I daydreamed about her all the way to Philly. A little more research and I was confident the Slice would be a great bike for me. It was still affordable, only $150 more than the Felt, and it's most talked about feature is comfort and control - it is not "twitchy" like a lot of other tri bikes which was one of my biggest concerns about going aero.

Now, the bike shop we went to is well known and respected but I just wasn't feeling very good mojo from the bike guy. So, I called up Sunrise Tri, where Sam bought his new bike earlier this year. They are not a dealer for Cannondale time trial bikes, but our favorite guy Matt agreed to do some investigating and let me know. A few days later he confirmed they could order her for me - we had a deal! We headed out this weekend for a few preliminary measurements to determine size and I put down a deposit. In just a few short weeks I should be the proud new parent of the Cannondale Slice 5 Women’s 105!

I'm not surprised about the hives. :) Glad to hear you're back to running and not letting that stop you. Best of luck with your training.
