Winter Solstice 2010

{source}

Yesterday was the winter solstice. According to Wikipedia, "The winter solstice occurs exactly when the Earth's axial tilt is farthest away from the sun at its maximum of 23° 26'."

Many people prefer to think of this day as the first day of winter. I am more of a "glass is half full" kind of gal so I would like to think of this as the shortest day of the year. Therefore, beginning today the days will only get longer and we will gain a minute or two of sunlight every day.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Eat, drink and be merry!

Comments make me happy, too! Yay for the days getting longer. I do not like having cold dark days before and after work, making it hard to fit in the workouts! Love the new blog design.
