I Need a Sunshine Dance

I need a big miracle sunshine dance! In fact, I think about 2,000 racers need a sunshine dance for this weekend. The forecast for the Bay area is calling for rain this weekend. It is not supposed to rain here in June, but unfortunately the Weather Goddess missed the memo. The forecast for this weekend is calling for rain and thunderstorms:

I was a little worried about the idea of doing the hilly and curvy bike course in the rain, but I figured I would just be careful and make the best of it. But then I read this post on Facebook from the Escape from Alcatraz organizers:

"Well, it sure is sunny and beautiful in San Francisco right now... Any decisions regarding the race and weather will be made early Sunday morning. Adjustments to the race could come in the form of shortening the swim and/or bike up to eliminating the swim and/or bike. Our primary concern will be safety. Everyone should do a "sunshine" dance in preparation for Sunday."

I'm really excited about this race and after all the training and a $400 entry fee I really, really want to do it. I understand the need for safety so my hope is that the sun will peek out for a couple of hours on Sunday morning. If you have a few moments please do a little Sunshine Dance for us!

Overall I feel like I'm in good shape going into the race this weekend. I've done the complete run course three times and the bike course once, including a brick last weekend with the full bike and run courses. I've also had a chance to swim in the Aquatic Park in the bay twice (it is awesome to have safe and free open water swimming right in the city, even though it is COLD and salty).

As for logistics, we are riding our road bikes instead of the tri bikes due to the technical nature of the course. We had them tuned up and the break pads replaced (very important). Tomorrow night we are meeting a few other racers from the Golden Gate Tri Club for a potluck and a viewing of The Rock.

For the potluck I'm trying out a new desert: No-Bake Black Bottom Pudding Pie. Doesn't it look amazing?!

Don't forget about the Sunshine Dance! Keep that rain away and I will love you forever. Maybe I will even find a way to make you all your own No-Bake Black Bottom Pudding Pie :)

Good luck at Alcatraz and I hope you get that sunshine. Sounds like things are going great for you out there.
