Rest Week

This week has inadvertently turned into a rest week for me. I didn’t plan it that way, but looking at my schedule I realize it was probably time so that is okay with me. I skipped a planned run and spin workout, but I did get in an extra long swim and some much needed rest.
Tonight I’m going to go to yoga after work. I don’t really want to go to yoga, especially because it as a 90 minute class and that seems so long on a Friday night (plus my new laptop arrived today and I want to go home and play with it), however I know that I will be glad that I went once I am there (or at least after) so I am going to force myself to go.

Tomorrow I’m doing my first bike/run brick of the season for a short spin and then a 8ish mile run. Then it’s party time as we get all fancied up for our tri club’s annual gala. We put on fancy clothes, do our hair and makeup and head to an event for good food, lots of drinks and tons of laughs. It’s nice to get together with your training friends, howver I find this slightly awkward because I will introduce myself to someone and it isn’t until I hear their voice that I realize I’ve been swimming in the same lane with them every Sunday morning for the last year but I didn’t realize it because they are wearing actual clothes and not a swim cap and goggles…

Sunday will be a hangover recovery day. It will likely include streaming Netflix, brunch and a museum if we are feeling up to it.

Have a great weekend!

Randomness

I've thought of at least 20 posts in the past month but I just haven't had a chance to sit down and write!

I am happy to report that training is going very well. With the exception of a crazy 2 weeks of travel I have managed 2 swims, 2-3 bikes and 3-4 runs per week. I've also resolved to start incorporating more weight training again and try to get back to a weekly yoga class.

I am counting the days (12!) until I get to pick up my new bike! I am so excited I am at a loss for words! I promise I will be back immediately to tell you all about my fit and post some bike p*rn.

I had a great dinner with Regina (of the one and only Chiu On This) a few weeks ago. It was so nice to catch up over a delicious dinner and wine.

I'm training hard for the upcoming More Women's Half Marathon on April 3rd. I'm starting to think the time off from running was actually a good thing because since I've gotten back in the groove I'm faster than ever. I did a 10 mile run with an 8:41 average on Saturday. A few weeks ago I set a lofty goal of breaking 2 hours (my one and only half marathon in 2009 was 2:21:XX). I am now thinking I could even shoot for a sub-1:55?!

The NY weather this winter has been approaching unbearable for me. I had a trip to Austin, TX earlier this month and it was freezing there too and it SNOWED, in Austin, Texas. WTF? At the end of last week we finally had two warm days (into the 50's), and even though it was snowing again this morning I know that spring will come, eventually.

I've read a ton of great books lately, including the Hunger Games trilogy. If you have not read them yet I highly recommend them!

It feels good to be back :)
